The Database

The New York State Watershed website is a vehicle for the entry and storage of water quality data collected by students from streams near their schools. Students are introduced to the geographic concept of a watershed and learn how to use the equipment and perform techniques to measure stream flow, water chemistry parameters and the biota living in their streams.

The Living SchoolBook has programmed this database for use in water quality education programs throughout New York State. It has been used primarily by Project Watershed as a repository and dissemination point for its own water quality data.

This database was queried in this investigation to obtain Project Watershed's water monitoring data from the past ten years so that students could analyze the data.
